When deciding where to pursue or elevate your Missouri real estate license, the key thing to remember is exam results matter when choosing a real estate school. The Missouri Real Estate Commission provides each school with their passing rates – if they don’t advertise them, ask.
We’re excited to share with you publicly that our Missouri real estate salesperson license first-time pass rate year-to-date is 66% for instructor-led courses.
The average first-time pass rate for all approved schools over that same timeframe is 37%.
Results matter.
We’re not guaranteeing you will pass the first time. We are saying we’re invested in your success and we give you a much better-than-average chance at avoiding second chances with your exams.
Pass rates are critical to understand when pursuing a Missouri real estate educator, and we recognize the result isn’t the only important thing. There’s a bit more behind the curtain regarding how those results are achieved. So, while asking a school about their passing rates, you may want to consider a few other things…
Additional Questions to Ask
- Instructors
- Who are the instructors? Who will be teaching your class? How long have they been teaching?
- Teaching Philosophy
- Everyone has different learning styles. How does a teacher approach someone who has a lot of math anxiety, for example…
- Content
- Did they write their own?
- Exam Prep
- Does their course include tools to prepare you for the exam or is that something extra you need to purchase?
- Post-Course Support
- What does a school do to support your efforts after the course has ended?
Note that we didn’t include reviews on that list. It is an important piece, yes, but our experience indicates that those are too easily manipulated. Not to say reviews can’t be trusted, but they do need to be taken with a grain of salt… Results matter when choosing a real estate school. A pile of 5-star reviews and a 35% passing rate? Thanks, but something’s not adding up.
We’re also not worried about publicly posting how we do what we do. It’s kind of like Grandma’s biscuit recipe – she can tell you what it is, but they never do taste quite the same, do they?
How We Answer Those Questions
- Instructors
- Jim Horton, our primary instructor, had been teaching real estate for nearly 5 years at a different school in Mid-Missouri. He saw a different path towards real estate education which focused on the students and their experience – he took that vision and created this school.
- Teaching Philosophy
- Everyone has a different learning style. Some are visual, some need to hear it, and others need to try it. Jim constantly asks questions of everyone to ensure they’re following along and makes adjustments to how he delivers the content to meet your individual needs. We especially focus on removing any anxiety about the exam, especially math. We also teach you strategies for taking the exam, not just the content that will be on it.
- Content
- We did write our own content. We followed the guidelines provided by the state to ensure we focus on the material you need to know to pass the exam. Built in Missouri for Missouri.
- Exam Prep
- Every instructor-led course we offer is bundled with a bank of 1,500 questions to round out your preparation for the exam – no additional add-ons are required.
- Post-Course Support
- During the course, we utilize Microsoft Teams to enable communication for every single course, whether you’re in the room with us or at home joining on your computer. Any question you have, either when the course is ongoing or (especially) after, is easily asked and quickly answered. We don’t want anyone to feel like they’re on an island.
